Lockdown!

These are unprecedented times! As society comes to terms with COVID-19 it is the role of the social documentary photographer to record the event and information in the first person, which is critical in confirming that it happened.

The purpose of this project is to chronicle events and environments that are both significant and insignificant but relevant to this historical event as well as everyday life at a local level.

Photographic documentation keeps a society bound to the trials and travesties of the past. We need documentary photography so much as it objectively records what transpires. To disregard the capture of the extremes of the human condition will only yield to the ugly powers of ignorance and indifference.

“At its aesthetic core is a very old tradition in art: naturalism. And its purpose is to document all facets of social relationships” Aaron Siskind
